art hub
beirut, lebanon
2023

Set against Beirut's waterfront, this transient Art Hub integrates multiple programs, a furniture showroom, ceramics studio, and café. Conceived as a flexible retail space, the project serves as a versatile venue for art exhibitions and private events, fostering artistic expression at the city's center.

A floating volume linked by a passerelle, a triangular service core, and a multifunctional square space express clear geometry, presenting a concise spatial organization that engages downtown Beirut's evolving urban fabric. Thirty percent of the plot is dedicated to public use as an outdoor planted terrace, forming an open plaza that connects dynamically to Beirut's renowned souks.

The ground plane is stratified with steps to create a new topography, offering space for cocoon-shaped display areas nestled within pockets of greenery. Overhead, a woven pod, crafted from wood to echo the rattan products exhibited below, hovers within the 9-meter void and houses the pottery workshop.

The hub materializes as a translucent cube, clad in polycarbonate panels encasing a slender steel structure, at once visually expressive and responsive to programmatic needs. By night, this distinct materiality transforms the Art Hub into a kaleidoscope of color. By day, it bathes the internal gardens in filtered natural light, ensuring privacy, calm, and focus by softening views of the city's activity beyond.
